Our IELTS classes are conducted by highly qualified English teachers with years of experience in teaching the four components of the IELTS test.

Anyone thinking about taking an English language test, will find this course particularly useful, but all English language learners will benefit from the tips and advice given in the course. The course focuses on the IELTS test (International English Language Testing System).

By the end of the Understanding IELTS course, you will:

  • be familiar with all parts of the IELTS test
  • have some useful tips to help you achieve your IELTS goals
  • understand how the IELTS test is assessed
  • have an opportunity to have your written and spoken English assessed by other learners

The listening component

Spelling rules, distracters, paraphrasing, and different English accents are all practiced and explained in the IELTS Listening class. Students also learn how to preview questions, distinguish between the different speakers, and identify keywords to listen out for.

 The reading component

In this lesson, students learn a range of reading skills such as skimming, scanning, how to develop strategies for tackling True/ False/ Not Given type questions, understanding the techniques behind dealing with text summaries, reading without focusing on vocabulary, increasing reading speed, and much more.

 The writing component

In this class students become familiar with both writing tasks 1 and 2. For the academic module, candidates learn task 1 tips and phrases as they practice how to describe, summarize or explain a graph, table, chart or diagram in their own words. Meanwhile, IELTS candidates taking the general module learn how to write a letter requesting information or explaining a situation.

Candidates also learn how to tackle writing task 2 which is the same question for both the academic and general module. For this task students are asked to write an essay in response to a point of view, argument or problem. Our writing classes offer techniques which are both interesting and easy to understand.

The speaking component

The IELTS speaking test is an interactive test which relates to real-life situations. The questions in the IELTS Speaking test are the same for both the IELTS Academic and General modules. During this lesson, candidates acquire skills on how to communicate opinions and information on everyday topics and common experiences as well as speak at length on a given topic using the appropriate language.
